Natural Phenomenon
Natural Phenomenon
Norway is known as the land of the midnight sun and this natural phenomenon occurs over the dramatic landscapes of northern Norway from late April until August.
The sun sits on the horizon and can still be seen at midnight, creating a low glow over the land and water during the night. The midnight sun is due to the Earth’s rotation and tilted axis relative to the sun. It occurs during the summer months when the hemisphere is tilted towards the sun.

Tromsø is a popular place to visit during the midnight sun and it can be seen between mid-May to late July.
Lofoten is also a prime location to enjoy the views of the midnight sun. The outstanding natural beautify of this archipelago is dimly lit and offers spectacular views at night during the midnight sun. You can see this natural phenomenon between late May to mid-July.
Sailing during these months in Northern Norway you will find the days long and never ending. It will give you the perfect opportunity to visit more places and provide you with more time to enjoy the spectacular scenery whilst on route. The extra sunlight makes the evenings come alive with people staying out later, bars and restaurants busier and giving a great atmosphere.
